A clan sheikh in Iraq released days after being arrested by an American force
Shafaq News / A security source reported on Tuesday, the release of Mu`di al-Ubaidi, the sheikh of al-Obaid tribe in al-Baghdadi sub-district in Anbar province, days after his arrest by an American force airdrop supported by Iraqi security.
A security source told Shafaq News that "the Central Investigation Court in Baghdad released al-Obaidi, as no charge had been proven against him."
It is noteworthy that an American force supported by an Iraqi force carried out on the 24th of last February an airdrop operation in Al-Baghdadi district, 90 km west of Ramadi and arrested Sheikh Muadi Al-Obaidi without knowing the reasons.
Muadi al-Obaidi is one of the sheikhs of Anbar Province, is one of the tribal figures who have fought ISIS in recent years.
It is noteworthy that, in early 2018, an American force backed by helicopters killed 8 Iraqi security forces and the tribal crowd, including officials m a woman and wounded 11 other people in an exchange of fire, in Al-Baghdadi sub-district, while Sheikh Muadi’s sister was among the dead.
About 5000 American soldiers are deployed in Iraq, as part of the efforts of the international coalition to fight "ISIS".
