KDP bloc in the Iraqi parliament condemns the attacks on political headquarters in Baghdad

Shafaq News/ The Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP) bloc in the Iraqi parliament condemned targeting the political parties' headquarters in Baghdad, stressing that it carries "subversive goal and political messages."

"These unjustified attacks threaten civil and social peace and the entire democratic process," the KDP'S spokesperson Vian Dakhil said.

The KDP member called on the relevant security services to "prosecute those behind these irresponsible actions, which will deteriorate the security situation."

It is worth noting that KDP, led by Masoud Barzani, won 31 seats in the Iraqi elections.

Earlier this week, a grenade exploded in the garden of the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the Karrada district of Baghdad, causing material damage.

A day after, a security source reported that two explosions targeted two separate headquarters for Azm and Takadum Movements.

Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohamad Al-Halbousi heads Takadum, and Khamis al-Khanjar leads Azm.

Members of Takadum told Shafaq News Agency that the bomb blew up inside the Movement's headquarters, causing only material damage.

After an extensive search, the security forces found another bomb and dismantled it safely.

Meanwhile, another source told our Agency that a similar explosion targeted Azm in al-Yarmouk, Baghdad.

However, the Baghdad Operations Command denied the news.

The KDP political bureau considered the attacks as "inappropriate behavior, out of political ethics and illegal," adding, "We condemn these acts of sabotage, and we tell the perpetrators that this will not solve matters, but will deteriorate the situation."

KDP called on the relevant institutions in the federal government to protect the headquarters and cadres of political parties.
