Shafaq News/ The first Deputy Governor of Babel, Wissam Aslan Al-Jubouri, said that achieving "security assurance" is crucial ahead of the repatriation of the families that displaced from Jurf al-Sakhr, deeming the sub-district a "dangerous terrorist lair" that jeopardized the security of the Middle and Southern Euphrates governorates.

Aslan told Shafaq News Agency, "the head of al-Azm bloc, Khamis al-Khanjar, who pledged to bring the locals back to their land, did not take part or contribute to the liberation of the sub-district. They cannot be returned without attaining security certainty."

"We acknowledge the danger that the people of Babel inflicted because of Jurf al-Sakhr. It was a dangerous terrorist lair, from which the terrorist groups struck Babel and all the middle Euphrates and southern Iraqi governorates."

"On the contrary to what that brother [Khamis al-Khanjar], and others, who make statements about Jurf al-Sakhr, the decision is not theirs to make. The decision is only for the people of Jurf al-Sakhr ana Babel."

On the repatriation process, Aslan said, "a preliminary pooling and investigation will be started into the list of the people to be repatriated. The lists are available, but they cannot be disclosed for security reasons. As soon as the files are written, and the state of assurance is attained, some of our people who sustained actual and severe losses can be repatriated."

"Some names on the list are involved in problems. They caused damage to the city, administrative units, and cities in the entire governorate," he added.

The Governorate Council of Babel voted by a majority in favor of suing whoever demands returning the citizens of Jurf al-Sakhr.

MP of the Governorate, Falah Abdul Karim, said that five thousand arrest warrants against people suspected of affiliation with ISIS and other criminal charges.
