MOH on COVID-19: middle-aged and elders are more susceptible and vulnerable
Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Ministry of Health revealed, on Wednesday, the age groups with high susceptibility to develop symptoms or die from COVID-19 in the country.
Ministry spokesman Saif Al-Badr said in a statement to Shafaq News Agency, that the majority of COVID-19 cases registered in Iraq are mild to moderate.
Al-Badr said that in the early months of the outbreak, the majority of the cases were among the elderly. However, "few months later, we began to register cases among the youth and the middle-aged", he added.
Middle aged and elders constitute the majority of the cases, "especially those who also suffer from heart, respiratory and kidney issues. Those are more vulnerable", Al-Badr continues.
On Tuesday, Iraq registered the largest daily toll of COVID-19 cases, with 4,576 cases. In total, the number in Iraq has reached 184,709, including 131,840 recoveries and 6,036 deaths.
