Iraqi forces besiege an ISIS terrorist emirate
Shafaq News / The Nineveh Operations Command of Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi (PMF) reported today, Sunday, that security forces are besieging the largest gathering of ISIS on Kanous island, on the border with Saladin.
The commander in Al-Hashd Khudair Al-Matrouhi told Shafaq News agency, "Joint operations of PMF and security forces imposed a complete blockade on the Kanous Island, which is considered a terrorist emirate for ISIS and a source of dangerous threat to Saladin, Nineveh and Kirkuk governorates."
Al-Matrouhi added, "The forces are waiting to complete building the floating bridge to cross the Dijlah River and eliminate ISIS elements."
Kanous Island is located in the north of al-Sharqat district, far north of Saladin at the southern borders of Nineveh Governorate.
The security forces and PMF began their operation yesterday, Saturday, and complete 50% of the operation, during which one leader of Al-Hashd and 12 ISIS members were killed, and one security member injured..
