Hundreds of families commemorate Camp Speicher massacre
Shafaq News/ on Saturday, Hundreds of families participated in march heading to Tikrit city on the 7th remembrance of Speicher massacre, in which ISIS killed 1,700 members of the security forces.
Tikrit’s Mayor, Omar Al-Shindah told Shafaq News Agency, that the security forces will “accompany the families of the victims until they reach the place where the most heinous terrorist crime committed by the terrorist organization ISIS in 2014 against members of the security forces.”
The massacre of the Iraqi army detachment at Camp Speicher in June 2014, was unprecedented even by the standards of Iraq’s decade of sectarian war. It sent panic through Iraq and announced to the world that ISIS were a new kind of foe, determined not only to seize and hold territory but to exterminate sectarian enemies who fell into their hands.
