Hazardous material transferred from Umm Qasr port, as by the PM's directives
Shafaq News / The Border Crossings Authority announced, on Sunday, that high-risk materials have been transported from Umm Qasr Al-Awsat Port in Basra Governorate, as by the Prime Minister's directives.
The media office of the Border Crossings Authority said in a statement received by Shafaq News agency, “Umm Qasr Al-Awsat port in Basra Governorate, in cooperation with the Customs, evacuated containers and two barrels containing hazardous material". The materials, owned by the Ministry of Electricity, were transferred to a safe area by security forces.
He explained, "Its customs procedures have been completed per the regulations and instructions in action. A report of fundamentalist evacuation has been organized by the Directorate of Umm Qasr Al-Awsat / Border Crossings Authority and the security authorities and departments operating at the border crossing".
He continued, "This came as per the Prime Minister's directives to form an urgent committee to detect high-risk materials (chemical, dual-use, ammonium nitrate) at all border crossings (land, sea, and air) and take all practical and precautionary measures".
The Border Crossings Authority announced, days ago, that hazardous materials had been transported from Baghdad International Airport as by the Prime Minister's directives.
