An Iraqi soldier killed in an ISIS attack in Khanaqin
Shafaq News / A security source in Diyala reported today, Thursday, that an Iraqi soldier was killed and 3 others were injured in an ISIS attack on the outskirts of Khanaqin district.
The source told Shafaq News agency that ISIS terrorists attacked a military spot belonging to the first commando regiment of Diyala operations department in the village of Sherk, at the outskirts of Khanaqin, and opened fire on the Iraqi militants.
The source confirmed that the army forces opened fire on the attackers, clashed with them, and forced them to retreat.
The outskirts of Khanaqin, 105 km northeast of Baquba, have been subjected during the past months to terrorist attacks that caused human losses. Experts attribute the attacks to terrorists who infiltrated the area after fleeing from other governorates.
