Al-kadhimi's government sets a financial approach of the early elections
Shafaq News / The Prime Minister’s Advisor for Elections Affairs, Abdul Hussein Al-Hindawi revealed today, Tuesday, the "financial" approach of Mustafa Al-Kadhimi's government to early elections in Iraq.
Al-Hindawi told Shafaq News Agency, "the funds allocated for early elections will be included in the budget for the year 2021", indicating that, "Iraq usually allocates approximately $ 250 million to conduct the elections. Mustafa Al-Kadhimi's government will work to reduce these expenditures in half to approximately $ 125 million".
"Iraqi government can provide these funds, as it provided salaries for employees despite the difficult conditions in the country. The money for the elections is much less than the money allocated for employees' salaries, which are paid monthly", he continued, "The Iraqi government can provide all the money for the success of the early elections...despite the financial and economic conditions, through international aid or grants, and many other ways".
On July 31st, the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, announced that the parliamentary elections will be held on June 6, 2021, pledging to provide international monitoring of the electoral process.
Al-Kadhimi's announcement of the election date was welcomed with an international pledge of support and work on its success. However, the positions of the political blocs are still vague and divided about the date and the mechanisms of the elections.
