Al-Kadhimi pledges to provide medical care to injured protestors

Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, pledged on Monday, to provide medical care for citizens who sustained injuries in the popular protests, even if their condition requires treatment abroad.  

This came during his reception of a delegation of injured demonstrators in Dhi Qar Governorate, according to a statement issued by Al-Kadhimi's office.

Al-Kadhimi welcomed the delegation and expressed his support for the popular demands, which raised the slogan of "change" to improve the reality of the country and build a better future for Iraq, based on justice, equality and prosperity. Al-Kadhimi stressed that his government is determined to fulfill the demands of peaceful demonstrators, which are among the priorities of its program.

Al-Kadhimi pledged to provide medical care for the injured protesters even if their condition required resuming treatment outside Iraq, consider enlisting them Social Protection Network payroll and pursue all necessary legal measures to restore their rights.

The Prime Minister said, "The reality of Nasiriyah today does not please us at the level of services. We will make every effort to provide a decent life for the citizens of Nasiriyah and all Iraqis, despite the great challenges facing Iraq due to Coronavirus pandemic and its economic repercussions".

Al-Kadhimi directed forming a committee to coordinate between the Prime Minister’s office and the injured citizen to monitor their health conditions. He also ordered constructing a memorial to document peaceful demonstrations and the heroic martyrs as it consists, "a historical moment that holds lessons for future generations".
