Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, arrived in the Dhi Qar governorate in the south of the country this morning, Sunday.

Upon his inauguration of the Gas Power plant in Nasiriyah, al-Kadhimi said that this plant produces more electricity compared to its analogs and better utilizes the flared gas.

He added that the plant will supply the grid with 500 megawatts in the first stage, then 250 in the second by utilizing the flared gas as a source.

"Recently, we inaugurated a similar plant in al-Muthanna, and soon we will open Samarra plant," PM al-Kadhimi said.

"We have focused our efforts on shifting attention to solar energy plants instead of gas plants. The government is working hard to complete the electrical connection with neighboring countries."

"These integrated plans will help finally addressing the accumulated and overlaid power problems in Iraq. The dilemma requires serious and courageous solutions. This is what the government is working on with full force."
