Aboul Gheit to visit Erbil, Hussein in a press conference with AL's Secretary-General

Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussien, and the Secretary-General of Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, held a joint press conference following a meeting in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

Hussein said, "we discussed issues related to the region, Iraqi relations with Arab League, Iraq's foreign policy, the outcomes of the Iraqi delegations visits to the neighboring countries, especially the visits PM Mustafa al-Kadhimi did later."

He added, "we touched upon Iraq's relations with Arab world, neighbors, Turkey, and Iran. We also discussed issues related to the League's work and ways of cooperation in this file."

"A part of the meeting was related to Syria. We agreed that the situation is unstable there, and this affects the Iraqi situation. It is essential to establish communication with the influential states in the Syrian situation...The Secretary-General has an intensive schedule. He will meet with the country's leaders and visit Erbil."

Aboul Gheit said, "I closely follow up the Iraqi performance. The strength, diplomacy, and approach radiate confidence."

"I hope this visit bolsters the relations between the Arab League and Iraq. We hope we host the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs in three months despite the hurdles."

"We pledge to be at the disposal of Iraq. Iraq is a founding member of the Arab League," Aboul Gheit concluded.
