6 MPs of Ahrar bloc resign on the background of Sadr’s retirement
The leader of the Sadrist movement , cleric Moqtada al -Sadr said in a unprecedented statement issued on Saturday evening ,the closure of all institutions affiliated with to him with the exception of some of it and said that Ahrar bloc doesn’t represent him any no longer in parliament nor any position in the Iraqi government .
Ahrar Bloc has 40 seats in the current parliament out of 325 seats as Sadr has a popularity in central and south of the country.
The resigned members are; Maha al- Douri , Iman al-Moussawi, Zainab al-Tai , Hussein Alwan al-Lami , Hussein al-Mansouri and Hussein Hamham.
The members at a conference held in parliament attended by “Shafaq News " , said that “ this decision came on the background of "the decision of Mr. Muqtada al-Sadr “.
Al-Sadr didn’t clarify in his statement the reasons for the decision , but hinted that it came " to preserve the reputation of Al -Sadr... to end all corruption that have occurred which might likely to fall under our name and the name of the office of the martyr inside and outside Iraq , to end the suffering of all the people and get out of the forms of politics and politicians”.
