26 convicted executed including the commander of Fathel awakening

The ministry said in a statement reported for " Shafaq News " , that “ it is carried out , the death sentence against (26) convicted of crimes related to terrorism on Sunday , stressing that all convicted are Iraqi men, including a famous terrorist in charge of sectarian crimes in Baghdad .

The statement quoted the minister , Hassan al-Shammari as saying that the (26) convicts carried out heinous terrorist crimes against the Iraqi people and were sentenced , convicted and received sentences by endorsement of the Republic presidency.

He added that among the convicted is a terrorist sentenced to death ( Adel al- Mashhadani ) responsible for the awakening of Fathel and al-Kefah areas in charge of sectarian crimes , stressing that the Ministry of Justice will continue to implement the provisions of the law against those convicted after acquiring finaldegree .

Anyone who implemented or planned for killings people and proven their belonging to armed groups will be punished with death penalty in accordance with Article IV , which is related to fight against terrorism , in the Iraqi constitution .

Amnesty International said that the use of the death penalty in Iraq reached its highest level since the overthrow of former President Saddam Hussein in 2003.

Iraq has been ranked the third in the world in executions , according to reports of human rights organizations involved in the fight against the death penalty.
