Maysan expects its oil production to reach more than 500 thousand barrels at the end of 2015
at the end of this year after the completion of the third phase of the development of Halfaya field.
The Chairman of the Oil and Energy Committee in the provincial council , Rahi al-Bazoni told “Shafaq News", that "China's PetroChina Company began to settle the land , build the camps and bring logistics equipment for the start of the third stage of the development of al-Halfaya field."
"The third phase is expected to be completed before the end of this year and is scheduled to add 200 thousand barrels of production to reach production from the field of 400 thousand barrels of oil a day."
Currently Bazerkan , al-Fakha and Abu Gharb fields produce 140 thousand barrels of oil per day.
Halfaya Oil field produces currently 200 thousand barrels after the completion of the first two phases of development, and the second for the period from 2012 to 2014, at a cost of about $ 3 billion, according to a statement by the Chinese company in an official statement last year.
Halfaya oil field is the largest productive field in the province and has oil reserves rate extracted from the province's oil fields by (16) billion barrels per day, as well as large quantities of gas.
