Mahdi concerned from a "setback" in the oil agreement with Erbil
of their expertise in the development of the oil sector.
Abdul-Mahdi said that the ministry will be based on the principle of communication, integration and continuity, indicating its eagerness to cooperate and rely on former ministers and deputies who worked in the ministry, to take advantage of their expertise.
He pointed out that "the ministry had the idea of collecting experiences of previous leaders of ministers and former deputies in the oil ministry, in order to consult with them and take advantage of their expertise in the development of the oil sector."
Abdul-Mahdi explained that "the meeting included discussions and conversations about oil prices , licensing contracts and the agreement that has been made with the region, as well as the work of the refineries mechanism and process of distribution and storage, all things that pertain to the work of the ministry," explaining that " very important opinions have been considered that will follow later in upcoming meetings. "
The meeting was attended by a number of former ministers as well as some deputies, including Hussein al-Shahristani, Thamer al-Ghadhban , Hashem al-Hashemi and former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil ,Ahmed al-Shmaah.
He added that "there is a major effort made in order to maximize exports, where we believe that this is under control if a setback did not happen in the agreement signed on Kirkuk province and Kurdistan’s exports," he said. "If we kept these contexts, we can meet the 3.3 million barrels requirements per day, and even more than that. "
The Oil Ministry announced on Sunday, it could produce 3.3 million barrels of oil per day, in case Kurdistan region committed to the export agreement signed with Baghdad, as pointed out that a Kuwaiti company will begin oil production from newly discovered fields”.
Abdul-Mahdi said that the ministry "will follow up and monitor the market and try to put realistic scenarios with every budget," pointing out that "the price of a barrel of oil now in the budget of 2015, which amounts to $ 60, was an early proposal from the Ministry of oil, the price that was estimated appropriate with the actual data, what it all comes will be abundance and surplus in the Iraqi treasury, rather than falling into deficits that led to wasteful and even to corruption. "
The minister added, "There are new discoveries of oil fields in Basra province," noting that "Kuwait Energy Company will begin oil production from new fields."
