Iraq agrees with three international companies to drill 39 wells in Maysan

“Iraq signed contracts with three international companies for oil services to drill 39 productive wells in Maysan complex which has reserves of 2.5 billion barrels and develop it by Chinese CNOOC and Turkish Petroleum Corporation,” A statement by the Iraqi government received by “Shafaq News “.

“The oil American services company Weatherford won two contracts for drilling valued at 94.98 million and 82.39 million $, respectively , as Chinese Duhaa got contract worth 96.66 million $," adding that " C . O .S. L. which is a unit specialized in oil services affiliated to CNOOC won a contract worth 73.82 million $,” the statement added.

It is noteworthy that Iraq signed in 2010 an agreement with CNOOC and Turkish Petroleum Corporation governmental organizations to develop Maysan complex, which includes several small fields in order to reach production to 450 thousand barrels per day by 2016.

The Iraqi government said in the same statement that it has decided to extend the agreement to export crude oil to Jordan for a year until 19 /09/2014 and the same prices and conditions contained in the memorandum between the two countries.

It confirmed the Jordanian Minister of media, Mohammadal-Mumeni’s statementyesterday that " the Iraqi Government has agreed to provide the Kingdom with 25 million $ worth of crude oil to help to meet its energy needs.”
