Gulf Keystone returns its foreign workers to Kurdistan
from the region amid escalating violence in August.
The company said that its focus is still on increasing production in Sheikhan oil field in Kurdistan to 40 thousand barrels per day, according to Reuters , seen by "Shafaq News".
Gulf Keystone said that about 30 percent of the field production is being sold to the domestic market, although sales amounted to 220 thousand barrels since 28 August, which added to the company's total revenues of $ 9.4 million dollars.
The risk of terrorists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria “ISIS” organization has declined in Kurdistan after they raised concerns of the foreign companies last August when ISIS elements marched towards the borders of the region in June after seizing third of the area of Iraq in an attack that raised wide regional and international fears.
A number of foreign companies that are working on the development of oil fields in Kurdistan had withdraw its foreign workers in a precautionary measure, although the militants have not reached the oil reservoirs in the region.
Over the past few weeks Kurdish forces have caused defeat to ISIS and regained control of about half the land that Kurdish forces had lost in August.
Air strikes by the United States and its allies against ISIS militants have also helped.
