Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Hussain al-Shahristani predicted, last Thursday, that Iraq will be the main supplier of oil in the world over the next two decades.

"The Ministry of Oil has developed plans for 2013 to reach the output of four million barrels of oil a day, and other plans for the coming years to increase production up to the level of 12 million barrels of oil a day, but these are just theoretical plans only, as production faces dilapidated infrastructure,” The decision maker of the Commission, Mohammad Qasim told “Shafaq News”.

“The ministry did not reach until now, the planned production for the current year, although it achieved an increase in production from the previous year, but the increase need to develop the infrastructure of the oil institution,” He added.

The Oil Ministry announced last week unexpected increases in oil production in the next period with the start of production in the first four new fields are (Garraf, Majnoon , West Qurna 2 and Badra field).
