The first Iraqi ship to circumnavigate the world arrives in Basra
Shafaq News / The Ministry of Transport, represented by the General Company for Maritime Transport, announced today, Friday, receiving the Iraqi ship Al-Hadbaa; The first Iraqi ship to circumnavigate the world.
The general manager of the company, Mohiddin Al-Emara, who was in the reception at the Khor Al-Zubair port, said, "Al-Hadbaa vessel recorded a success none of the Iraqi ship has achieved before. It transported various tonnages to the most important ports of the world after it sailed from the port of Umm Qasr - United Arab Emirates - Canada - Los Angeles – Guatemala - Panama - Congo - Liberia - Bangladesh - India - Oman - Saudi Arabia - Khor Al-Zubair port."
A bigger celebration was intended to receive Al-Hadbaa but due to fears over the transmission of COVID-19 the celebration was restricted to a smaller ceremony on which the crew was honored.
For his part, Amer Ibrahim, director of the technical department, indicated that Al-Hadbaa ship completed a full around the globe and crossed the Pacific, the Indian and the Atlantic Ocean. The ship entered important ports and no technical breaches were recorded against the ship according to its entry certificates.
It is noteworthy that the humpback ship was built for the Iraqi naval fleet in South Korea in 2014 with a load of 17,500 tons.
