Iraq to buy 10,000 tons of food Oil
Shafaq News / The Iraqi Ministry of Trade announced on Friday that it had concluded contracts with local factories to buy cooking oil. Those batches will be included among the items of the ration card, said the ministry.
The General Company for Foodstuff Management, one of the formations affiliated with the ministry, said in a statement today that it "is undergoing a contract to buy 10,000 tons of food oil from three local factories".
Iraq adopted the ration card system following the issuance of UN Security Council Resolution 661 on August 6, 1990, which imposed an economic blockade on the country as a result of the former regime's invasion of Kuwait.
