Shafaq News – Aleppo (Updated on Oct. 6 at 2:15)
Armed clashes broke out on Sunday between Syrian government forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) near Deir Hafer in eastern Aleppo countryside.
Shafaq News correspondent reported that both sides exchanged medium and heavy gunfire across three different locations in the area, accompanied by mutual rocket shelling.
A source from a travel company told Shafaq News that the Syrian government closed the main road linking Raqqa and Aleppo, followed by the shutdown of river crossings connecting both sides of the Euphrates River in Deir ez-Zor province, cutting all routes between territories controlled by the SDF and the Syrian government.
“Transport companies were informed that the closures would remain in effect until Monday, though no reasons were provided,” he added.
In a post on X, the SDF reported that a drone hit a military vehicle early in the morning, followed by another strike on a patrol later in the day. Artillery fire also targeted nearby residential areas.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense, in a statement to the state-run SANA agency, described the SDF claims as “false and misleading,” adding that army units have exercised maximum restraint, responding only to sources of fire.
