Shafaq News / A security source in Basra stated today, Wednesday, that armed men stole a large sum of money from a citizen after following him to his home in the governorate.
The source told Shafaq News agency, “Armed men on a motorbike stole this evening 11 million Iraqi dinars from a citizen who lives in the central Basra,” indicating that “the victim was pursued to his home.”
The source added, "The gunmen fled to an unknown destination after carrying out the operation, while a security force investigated the incident."
Observers point out that the situation in Basra has become almost insecure recently; and the government is not able to prosecute crime gangs, while Ashaeri conflicts have been active before.
Basra witnessed this evening, Wednesday, the killing of two women in the center of the city after being attacked by unknown gunmen.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi issued an order on Monday to dismiss Basra's police chief, Rashid Falih, from his post and assign Major General Abbas Naji after the assassination of a prominent activist and the outbreak of angry demonstrations in the governorate.
While the head of the National Security council and the Director of National Security in Basra Governorate were dismissed of his duties.
