Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it targeted a US F-35 fighter jet over central Iran at 2:50 a.m., using an advanced air defense system operated by its Aerospace Force.
In a statement, the IRGC claimed the jet sustained significant damage, while its ultimate fate remains under investigation, with a high possibility it was downed, stating that “more than 125 hostile US and Israeli drones had been successfully intercepted by Iranian air defense systems in recent operations.”
Meanwhile, CNN reported that a US F-35 fighter jet was forced to make an emergency landing at a military base in the Middle East after coming under what is believed to be an Iranian attack. Citing a spokesperson for US Central Command, the network said the aircraft was conducting an aerial mission over Iran when it was targeted.
The spokesperson added that the jet landed safely and that the incident remains under investigation, adding, “The pilot’s condition is reported to be stable.”
