Shafaq News/ Three Syrian soldiers were killed on Sunday in an ambush near the Lebanese border, according to Syrian and Lebanese media reports.
The Lebanese army, through the Lebanese Red Cross, handed over the bodies at the Jousiyeh–Qaa border crossing with Syria.
A local security official, who requested anonymity, emphasized, "The area remains under heightened surveillance as investigations continue."
Syria’s Defense Ministry accused a Hezbollah-affiliated group of ambushing and executing the Syrian soldiers near the Lebanese border.
According to a statement from the ministry’s media office, carried by SANA, the soldiers were captured near the Zita Dam, west of Homs, before being taken into Lebanese territory and executed.
Hezbollah issued a statement categorically denying any involvement, reaffirming, “We strongly deny the claims being circulated regarding Hezbollah’s involvement in today's events on the Lebanese-Syrian border,” the statement read.
Hezbollah also reiterated its longstanding position that it has no role in any developments inside Syria, emphasizing that it has made this clear on multiple occasions.
