Air defense systems of Balad Air Base in Iraq’s Saladin province intercepted on Friday a drone that targeted the vicinity of the base, a security source told Shafaq News, adding that no injuries or damage were recorded.

Security forces have imposed heightened measures in the area and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the attack and identify those responsible, the source said.

Balad Air Base is considered one of Iraq’s most important military installations, and it maintains continuous security measures to counter potential threats.
