A Turkish military cargo plane crashed near the Georgia-Azerbaijan border while returning to the country, Turkiye’s Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.
In a post on X, the ministry noted the C-130 aircraft had departed from Azerbaijan and went down along the border area between the two neighboring countries.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed condolences over the incident, adding that recovery efforts are ongoing in coordination with local authorities.
The ministry later confirmed that 20 personnel were on board the aircraft, though the number of casualties remains unknown.
