Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on Friday targeting the Ali Al-Taher area in Kfartebnit of the southern Lebanese city of Nabatieh.

Eyewitnesses told Shafaq News that several explosions were heard in the area, accompanied by the sound of Israeli jet fighters. Surveillance drones were also seen flying over multiple locations in southern Lebanon.

The Israeli Army spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, said Israeli fighter jets targeted a site in the Mount Shuqayf area (known locally as Ali Al-Taher) of southern Lebanon that was being “used to operate Hezbollah’s fire control and protection systems.”

According to Adraee, the site is part of an underground project that had previously been disabled by Israeli strikes but was undergoing reconstruction.

“The existence of this site and the attempts to rebuild it constitute a blatant violation of the agreements between Israel and Lebanon,” Adraee said, adding, the army will continue working to eliminate “any threat to the State of Israel.”

The area had also been hit in a previous Israeli strike last month that killed two civilians, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or material damage from Thursday's attacks.

Lebanese authorities have yet to issue an official response.
