Yemen’s Houthis (Ansarallah) on Monday claimed responsibility for a missile strike on the Saudi-flagged oil tanker Amzan off the coast of Yanbu in the northern Red Sea, alleging that the attack set the vessel on fire.

Military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree reported that a ballistic missile struck the tanker, while other vessels in the area departed after the incident.

Saree reported two military operations targeting what he described as Saudi military buildups in the Al-Abr and Al-Wadiah areas. He said ballistic missiles and drones destroyed or set fire to more than 10 trucks carrying weapons from Saudi Arabia.

Houthis also struck Saudi forces in the Al-Kanais area with ballistic missiles and drones. Saree said the attack killed or wounded dozens of people, including commanders and officers, and destroyed several weapons depots.

The Houthis vowed to continue enforcing maritime restrictions within their declared area of operations and warned that any escalation would lead to “stronger and broader” attacks.

Earlier, the Houthis announced two drone attacks, saying they targeted a “sensitive target” at Najran airport and an Aramco facility in southern Saudi Arabia.
