Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani announced on Tuesday that the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has surpassed one million votes in preliminary results of the general election.
KRG President Nechirvan Barzani congratulated the party on the achievement.
Preliminary figures obtained bu Shafaq News Agency indicate that KDP has so far secured more than 383,000 votes in Duhok, 341,000 in Erbil, 62,000 in both al-Sulaymaniyah and Halabja, 51,000 in Kirkuk, and 125.000 in Nineveh.

Posting on X, Masrour Barzani said the KDP’s vote count “expected to rise in the final results, thanks to the commitment and will of the people of the Kurdistan Region and party members.”
He extended his congratulations to “our people’s leader, Leader Masoud Barzani, and to my dear brother, KRG President Nechirvan Barzani, on surpassing the one million vote mark. I also thank and commend all party leaders, members, and supporters. Congratulations to all the people of Kurdistan — this is a major victory in the democratic process and a blessing for all Iraqis.”
Barzani added, “We will continue with stronger steps and greater determination to serve all the people of Kurdistan and our country, toward a more stable and prosperous nation.”
