Shafaq News / During his meeting with the US ambassador to Iraq today Wednesday, Kurdistan’s President, Nechirvan Barzani considered that the US-Iraqi strategic dialogue is "an important framework for the sustainability of relations."
A statement by the Presidency said Barzani “discussed, today with the US ambassador to Iraq, Matthew Toller, the security and political developments in Iraq and the attacks on Erbil, Balad and Baghdad."
The Corona virus pandemic, the upcoming Iraqi elections and the role of the United Nations and the international community in this regard, and the agreement between Erbil and Baghdad to normalize the situation in Sinjar took part of the discussions.
According to the Statement, the two sides stressed the need of coordination among the parties in Iraq and the Region, and the continuation of the US-Led Coalition support to confront terrorism.
Barzani also expressed Kurdistan’s readiness to solve the outstanding issues with the federal government on the basis of the constitution.
For his part, "the US ambassador expressed his country's commitment to continuing the US-Iraqi strategic dialogue," pointing out that "Barzani considered the strategic dialogue as an important framework for the sustainability of relations between the United States, Iraq and the Kurdistan Region."
