Shafaq News / Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) canceled, on Thursday, the ceremonies commemorating Anfal campaigns to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The undersecretary of the Ministry of Martyrs Affairs in Kurdistan Regional Government, Parvan Hamdi, told Shafaq News agency that the ministry canceled Anfal memorial ceremonies, in compliance with the precautionary measures to prevent COVID-19, adding, "the revival of the event will be limited to issuing a ministerial statement ".
The former Iraqi regime, led by Saddam Hussein, launched Anfal campaigns of genocide against the Kurds in the eighties of the last century, which killed at least 180 thousand people, including children, women and elderly people, in addition to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of citizens.
