Shafaq News / The Kurdish Council of Ministers held its regular session on Wednesday, headed by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, with the participation of his deputy, Qubad Talabani, through a video conference.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, the current financial situation in Kurdistan and the results of the talks between the regional government and the federal government were discussed.

 

A statement issued by the cabinet received by Shafaq News agency,  stated that it appreciates the efforts made by the regional government delegation to negotiate with the federal government, and affirms that” Erbil used all constitutional, legal, administrative or financial justification during the discussions in order to reach an agreement.”

Adding that the region agreed to all the conditions of Baghdad within the framework of the constitution, but unfortunately, for more than three months, the federal government did not show any willingness to send the salaries.”

 

The Council of Ministers emphasized that no distinction should be made between citizens of the Region and the rest of Iraq, especially with regard to salaries, and this is “a constitutional right”.

 

The Cabinet also directed the negotiating delegation to continue its discussions with the federal government to reach an agreement, as the region had previously expressed its readiness to implement its constitutional obligations in the oil and financial topics.

 

The Cabinet also called on the President, the ministers and representatives of the Kurdistan Region in the House of Representatives, to defend the financial and constitutional rights of the Kurdish people.

 

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Council of Ministers directed both the Ministers of Interior and the Peshmerga to follow up the problems and obstacles at the border crossings to ensure the prevention of any violations or illegal activities through them.
