Shafaq News / The Presidents of the Republic, Barham Salih and the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi confirmed today, Wednesday, that "early" elections will be held and the pending problems with the region will be resolved.
The Presidency of the Republic said in a statement, received by Shafaq News Agency, that Salih received, today, Al-Halbousi in Al-Sulaymaniyah, indicating that “during the meeting, the political, security and service issues were discussed, in addition to the health pandemic and measures to limit its epidemiological and economic repercussions.”
The statement clarified that "the necessity of holding early elections is a national entitlement, and a basic pillar to move towards the reform, and the importance of completing the election law by the House of Representatives and sending it to the Presidency of the Republic" was emphasized.
The two Presidents stressed, "the necessity of uniting the Iraqi forces and giving priority to the national interest to consolidate the sovereignty and stability of Iraq as well as strengthening the relationship and joint work for a comprehensive solution to the outstanding problems between the federal government and the regional government in accordance with the constitution.”
The statement indicated that “fighting terrorism and eliminating its outposts and cells will continue to achieve security for our people."
According to the statement, "the latest developments at the regional and international levels and the importance of supporting international efforts to promote peace in the region were reviewed”
