Shafaq News / Sairoon Alliance commented on Wednesday on news that the current Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, has formed a political party to run for the next parliamentary elections.
The leader of the coalition, MP Ghayeb Al-Amiri, told Shafaq News agency, "the right is the right of any Iraqi to form a party and participate in the elections", stressing at the same time refusing to use political power or positions to achieve electoral gains.
Al-Amiri stated that, "the prime minister has great powers in carrying out reforms and changes, but it is not acceptable to use these powers to promote elections in which he may be a party. It is not right".
He a "there is no assured, "there is no problem if the PM forms a political party and participate in the elections, but until this moment there has been no definite information on Al-Kadhimi's intention in this regard".
Political sources revealed earlier, that the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, began his first steps in establishing a political party to participate in the upcoming elections, scheduled to take place in June 2021.
The sources said, "the political party that Al-Kadhimi is currently working to establish will be headed by someone close to him, who will probably be the director of his office, Raed Juhi".
