Shafaq News / Mahmoud Al-Zajrawi, MP of Sairoon, confirmed today, Sunday, that his coalition accepts the quota system in the institutions of the Iraqi state but supports choosing competent and qualified candidates for the positions they are being selected for.
Al-Zajrawi told Shafaq News agency, "the quota system was and still controlling the Iraqi state", adding, "we cannot get rid of quotas, as all political forces have popular representation and they seek to serve this representation through what positions they claim in the state".
He added, "We accept this system, on the condition that the person receiving any position must be a qualified, competent and works for Iraq", adding that, "in the current quota system, they work to serve the interests of the bloc or the party they represent".
It is worth noting that political observers and analysts had identified sectarian, regional, and partisan quotas, as the most prominent obstacles to the normal development of the state and society in Iraq. Experts note that many political forces have not yet decided on alternative electoral system, for fear of losing positions and privileges.
