Shafaq News/ The President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, spurred the Iraqi forces the agree upon a "common Iraqi view" to the country's future.
On the third day of his visit to Baghdad, Barzani held a series of separate meetings with the head of the Civil Gathering for Reform Salim Al-Jubouri, the former Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, the Supreme Iraqi Council Hammam Hamoudi, the Secretary-General of the Iraqi National Accord Party Ayad Allawi, and the chair of al-Azm Coalition Khamis al-Khanjar.
A statement by the region's presidency said that the meetings discussed the latest political and security developments in the country, the upcoming elections, the Kurdistan Region’s relations with the Iraqi federal government, ISIS threats, and Iraq's relations with the countries of the region and the world.
Barzani reiterated that adopting a common vision and understanding for Iraq's future is indispensable to guarantee stability, coexistence, and tolerance, stressing that this cannot be achieved without learning from past mistakes and experiences.
Barzani stressed that after 18 years of ousting the previous regime and the building of the new Iraq, the transitional phase must come to an end, and a new phase must be commenced.
The Iraqi forces and parties described Barzani's visit to Baghdad as an opportunity to renew the network of relations between political forces and joint action in order to lead the country to a better stage that includes stability, reconstruction, progress, partnership to run the country on the basis of citizenship and common interests, hoping that the visit will have fruitful results and sequels in the future.
