Shafaq News / The Security Media Cell confirmed, on Tuesday, that shelling had been repelled on the Green Zone, which has been witnessing frequent events in the recent period.
A statement by the cell, received by Shafaq News agency, stated, "The Green Zone was targeted at 1:00 am today - local time - with two Katyusha rockets that were repelled by the C-RAM system."
He added that the bombing did not cause any losses, and the launching site of the two rockets was identified from the Ali Al-Saleh area in the capital.
Earlier, the security source stated that unidentified persons fired three missiles at the Green Zone in the mostly targeting the US embassy, without causing any causalities.
The source added that the air defense system repelled the missiles, but it was not immediately clear where they fell or where they were fired, indicating that the security forces are following the matter.
The attack comes a few hours after two attacks targeted convoys of trucks carrying equipment for the international coalition forces in Al-Diwaniyah and Babel.
Attacks on US forces and interests, as well as the supplies of the international coalition led by Washington, are frequent by unidentified gunmen suspected of being Iraqi fighters loyal to Iran.
