Shafaq News / Iraq's Independent High Electoral Commission announced in a statement received by Shafaq News, on Saturday, its readiness to hold early elections on June 6, 2021 as the PM said if 4 conditions are met.

The Commission provided the conditions as follows:

First: The parliament should implement the election law as soon as possible and publish it in the official gazette, as it represents the legal framework for the election process.

Second: The Parliament should change provision of the law for Article 3 of Ordinance No. 30/2005 to insure the quorum of the Federal Supreme Court, which is the only body legally, empowered to endorse the election results.

Third: The government should prepare the electoral budget and provide the requirements that the Commission previously requested from the relevant ministries.

Fourth: The Commission calls on the United Nations and other relevant international organizations to provide electoral assistance and the necessary oversight to achieve free, transparent and fair elections

The Commission noted "its full commitment, after implementing the above, to work to fulfill its constitutional work with sincerity and dedication."
