Shafaq News / The Iraqi Ministry of Health revealed, on Wednesday, that 80 percent of the covid-19 cases are minor.
The Director of Public Health at the Ministry, Riyad Abdul Amir, said, in a statement carried by government media, that "despite the escalation in the number of infections for weeks, but on the other hand there is an increase in the number of recoveries, reaching more than 4000 cases per day in Baghdad and the governorates. "
He added, "The high number of infections is due to the increase in the number of performed tests, which reached more than 25,000 per day," indicating that "80 percent of the cases are without symptoms, 5 percent were serious cases, and 15 percent were pulmonary cases."
According to Abd al-Amir, the Ministry of Health has taken “great steps in providing respiratory devices and using the treatment protocols approved by WHO,” stressing that “the most important aspect of the patient’s focus is the psychological condition that controls immunity and helps Healing."
Abdel-Amir stated that "the death rate ranged between 1-2 percent on a daily basis, and again, this depends on the number of infections."
As for the second wave of the pandemic, he said that it ”appears during the month of October, which is the autumn wave that may cause high infection rates, stressing that people should move away from panic and spread health awareness among citizens to protect themselves and their families.”
