KRG suspends prison visits until further notice

Shafaq News / The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Kurdistan Region, Kohistan Muhammad announced on Wednesday the suspension of visits to prisons and regional reform centers due to the spread of Covid-19.

"In order to preserve the lives of inmates and that the virus does not sweep over prisons, it was decided to stop visits," Mohamed said in a statement to reporters today.

"We assure inmates in prisons that we are keen on their lives and their safety is important to us so that they won’t get infected with Covid-19”.

 She called “on the inmates to accept the current conditions in which their relatives are not allowed to visit them and to communicate with them by phone."
