Iraq's Ministry of Electricity removed 11 officials from key power plants and departments, including the directors of the Al-Hartha and Al-Nasiriya thermal plants, Shafaq News learned on Monday.

According to an official document, the changes also affected branch managers responsible for warehouses, procurement and other administrative functions at the two plants and other southern departments.

Since taking office as Electricity Minister in May 2026 under Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, Ali Saadi Wahib has replaced several officials in senior positions. Among those previously dismissed were Alaa Samir, general manager of the Central Electricity Distribution Company, and his office director, following corruption allegations.
