Shafaq News / The World Health Organisation’s (WHO) top official in Europe has said that there is a clear threat of a second wave of "Covid-19", if the virus is not stopped it could become deadly and devastating.
"The second wave is not inevitable, while a large number of countries started to ease their lockdown restrictions, but there is a clear threat of a second wave of Covid-19, and if these mutations are not stopped, then the second wave can come and it can become very devastating," Dr Hans Kluge, director for the WHO European region.”
He pointed out that "our situation today is not better than it was at the beginning of the year," adding "We still do not have a vaccine or treatment for Covid-19."
Meanwhile, Russian experts also did not rule out the possibility of a new wave of the emerging corona virus.
According to the head of the Russian Federation for Consumer Rights Protection, Anna Popova, the second wave of coronavirus infections may be during the wake of severe acute respiratory viral infection (SARS), "Covid-19" is likely to return next fall.
WHO announced earlier that the number of people infected with the emerging coronavirus in the world surpassed 6.1 million, and fatalities more than 376 thousand cases.
