Kyiv reported repelling nearly 200 Russian assaults overnight, while Moscow confirmed large-scale Ukrainian drone attacks on its energy infrastructure.

In a statement on Monday, the General Staff of Ukraine said 187 clashes took place across the front, with Russia launching missiles and airstrikes, dropping guided bombs, and firing thousands of artillery shells. Ukrainian air defenses reported confronting more than 6,000 drones in a single day.

The heaviest battles were recorded in Donetsk region, particularly around Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka, with additional fighting near Lyman, Siversk, Toretsk, and Kramatorsk. According to Ukrinform, two civilians were killed and 20 wounded in Donetsk region, while one person was killed and two others injured in Kherson. In response, Ukrainian forces struck Russian troop concentrations and artillery positions, estimating Moscow losses at 910 personnel, dozens of artillery systems, hundreds of drones, and scores of vehicles within 24 hours.

Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that air defense units destroyed six Ukrainian drones over Belgorod and confirmed that more than 360 drones targeted Russian territory overnight. The attack briefly set fire to the Kirishi oil refinery in northwest Russia, one of the country’s largest processing facilities, though no injuries were reported.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised long-range strikes on Russian oil infrastructure, describing them as the most effective sanctions. Meanwhile, Romania accused Russia of “irresponsible actions” after alleging that a drone crossed into its airspace during the overnight assault on Ukraine, prompting Bucharest to scramble fighter jets.

The incident followed Poland’s downing of Russian drones that breached its airspace earlier in the week, prompting NATO allies to vow stronger defenses along the alliance’s eastern flank.
