The US President Donald Trump on Wednesday claimed that Iran's president wants a ceasefire, describing him as “Iran’s New Regime President.”
In a post on Social Truth, Trump apparently referred to Masoud Pezeshkian, although there has been no regime change in Iran. He said about Pezeshkian, "much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE!," adding that US will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear, “Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!"
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in an interview with Al Jazeera aired late Tuesday, stated that the US cannot speak to the people of Iran in the language of threats and deadlines, clarifying, "We didn’t set any deadline for defending ourselves."
Meanwhile, Reuters cited Trump as saying, “The United States will be out of Iran pretty quickly and could return for spot hits if needed.” He also stressed that he would express his "disgust with NATO for the alliance's lack of support for US objectives in Iran,” noting that he is "absolutely" considering an attempt to withdraw the United States from the organization.
