Shafaq News/ Israeli airstrikes targeted Yemen’s al-Salif and Hodeidah ports on Friday, Houthi-run Al Masirah TV reported.

No casualties were immediately recorded.

Israeli Channel 12 reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz directed the operation from the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv.

The attack marks Israel’s eighth on Yemen since October 2023, and the third since hostilities resumed in Gaza in March.

Israeli media quoted a security official describing the strikes as part of an effort to “impose economic pressure on the Houthis and enforce a blockade,” in response to threats by the group to disrupt Israeli maritime traffic.

Following the strike, Defense Minister Katz warned that continued rocket attacks from Yemen would provoke “painful responses,” and vowed that Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi would be “hunted down and eliminated.”

Earlier, the United States and the Houthis (Ansarallah) reached a ceasefire agreement brokered by Oman, pausing US airstrikes in exchange for reduced Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping. However, Houthi officials clarified the deal does not include Israel and pledged to maintain operations in support of Gaza.
