The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif called the incident a wake-up call, saying the conflict with Afghanistan concerns all of Pakistan, adding, “Bringing this war to Islamabad is a message from Kabul.”
Last month, truce negotiations between Pakistan and Afghanistan collapsed following an exchange of fire along the border.
