Shafaq News / The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Iraq clarified on Tuesday its point of view in a press statement to its Chargé d'Affairs, regarding the ongoing conflicts with Armenia.
The Chargé d'Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Iraq, Nasir Mammadov, said, in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, "the provocations and military attacks launched by the Armed Forces of Armenia on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan led to a counterattack by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan".
According to Mammadov, "This conflict must be resolved while preserving the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan based on international law, the sovereignty of Azerbaijan and the inviolability of its internationally recognized borders, as well as United Nations resolutions".
Mammadov clarified, "the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan took upon themselves the responsibility of implementing four UN Security Council resolutions", noting that, "these decisions were not implemented for 30 years, but remained on paper only".
The escalation between Armenia and Azerbaijan continues in a crisis that is the most dangerous between the two neighbors since 2016 in the disputed region of Nagorno-Kara-bakh.
Military operations have been taking place over the past few days, as Baku asserts that it is forced to fight for liberating territories occupied by Armenian forces, according to the description of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense
