Shafaq News- Dhi Qar

Security forces busted seven municipal employees and intermediaries in Nasiriyah as part of an anti-corruption campaign, a source at the Dhi Qar provincial administration told Shafaq News on Sunday.

The raids targeted several locations in Nasiriyah. According to the source, “the detainees forged official documents and caused significant losses to public funds.”

Earlier this week, a Nasiriyah municipal employee facing several corruption warrants escaped shortly before security forces raided his home, prompting a search across Dhi Qar province.

Since the government launched its Dawn Crackdown anti-corruption campaign on June 28, Shafaq News has documented more than 23 arrests in Dhi Qar and the dismissal of several directors-general. Investigations have also focused on suspected irregularities involving 40,000 residential plots in Nasiriyah and alleged financial waste in investment and healthcare contracts.
