Iraq’s Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, has directed the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency to take all necessary measures to confront security threats targeting critical infrastructure, diplomatic missions, and foreign nationals.

A statement from Al-Sudani’s media office said the directive was issued during a visit to the headquarters of the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency at the Ministry of Interior in Baghdad, where Al-Sudani chaired a high-level meeting attended by the Interior Minister, the Head of the National Intelligence Service, the Undersecretary for Federal Intelligence and Investigations Affairs, and senior ministry officials.

He emphasized that “enforcement of the law will have no exceptions,” stressing that those responsible for acts undermining Iraq’s stability and reputation must be held fully accountable.

Al-Sudani received a comprehensive briefing on the agency’s operations and ongoing efforts to address threats, including attacks on vital institutions, diplomatic missions, and the kidnapping of foreign nationals.

He stressed the importance of maintaining full preparedness, continuous intelligence monitoring, and rapid response capabilities to preserve the stability achieved and confront all security challenges, regardless of their source, underscoring that “there would be no leniency in applying the law and no red lines in holding perpetrators accountable.”
